At Shepherd Church, we value sports not only as a way to help shape those qualities in young people, but also as a way to reach out to our community, promote good health and combat a growing epidemic: childhood obesity. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, childhood obesity has more than tripled in the past 30 years. Benef icial lifestyle habits, including healthy eating and regular physical activity, can lower the risk of becoming obese and developing related diseases such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease and osteoarthritis. Therefore, it is our goal to provide opportunities for the young and old alike to become active and live long and healthy lives.


We believe physical fitness is a tool for character building, whether a person is five or 85. Through all of our Youth Sports programs at Shepherd Church, our goal is to provide a positive learning environment for young athletes. We strive to teach biblical principles, godly character, as well as the fundamentals of sport, making a well-rounded athlete and teammate. And in our adult leagues and programs, our focus is not only on a healthy lifestyle and becoming physically fit, but also gaining important life skills such as discipline, sacrifice, integrity and teamwork.
